Oxytocin is approved by the FDA for obstetric use as an injection. Compounded intranasal and sublingual oxytocin are not FDA-approved products. Use outside the approved indication is off-label.

Oxytocin is not sold for research use and is not available for direct purchase. It is dispensed only following a clinical consultation, pursuant to a patient-specific prescription, and filled by a licensed 503A compounding pharmacy.

Prescription therapies are dispensed by a licensed 503A compounding pharmacy, which fills patient-specific prescriptions only and is not permitted to dispense medications for office use.
