Available only after a consultation and lab work with a licensed provider. If prescribed, tesamorelin and ipamorelin are compounded and dispensed by a licensed 503A compounding pharmacy pursuant to a patient-specific prescription. A prescription is not guaranteed. Not available in all states.
Tesamorelin is FDA-approved as Egrifta for the reduction of excess visceral abdominal fat in HIV-associated lipodystrophy. Use outside that indication is off-label. Because an approved product is commercially available, a compounded tesamorelin preparation is dispensed only where the prescriber determines that it produces a clinically significant difference for the individual patient.
Ipamorelin is not FDA-approved. It is not on FDA's list of bulk drug substances eligible for compounding under section 503A, and it is not among the substances FDA has placed in its restrictive category for 503A compounding. It remains unlisted, and its compounding status may change through future FDA rulemaking.
Compounded medications are not FDA-approved. This preparation is not sold for research use and is not available for direct purchase.
Prescription therapies are dispensed by a licensed 503A compounding pharmacy, which fills patient-specific prescriptions only and is not permitted to dispense medications for office use.
This compounded product has not been reviewed, approved, or evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration for safety and effectiveness.
