Traits
The fittest people I know over 50 all have the same five things in common
Number one is the one nobody wants to hear. Each of these comes with a test. Run them on yourself as you read — the answers arrive faster than you'd like.
They stopped drinking. Or they got honest about it.
Have you renegotiated the rules in the last month? Weekends only, then stressful days, then just one more.
If the rules keep moving, you already know.
They know their numbers.
Say your free testosterone number out loud. Not total. Free.
If you can't, you're guessing — and you've been guessing since your forties.
They lift, and it's actually hard.
Was anything you did this week genuinely uncomfortable? Not "active." Hard.
After 50, muscle isn't vanity. It's the organ that keeps you out of a care home.
They stopped negotiating with themselves.
Did you have to talk yourself into it this morning? If it's a debate every day, that's not a plan — that's a hostage situation.
They decided once and stopped putting it to a vote.
They're not doing it to look good.
Say your reason out loud right now. If it takes more than five seconds to find one, you don't have one yet.
Vanity gets you eight weeks. Purpose gets you the rest of your life.
None of this is complicated.
All of it is hard.
That's the whole difference.
Check yourself against this again in 30 days.
